My dream Romantic Weekend in Milwaukee, WI would include:
A stay at The Pfister Hotel for 2 nights. It is located at 424 East Wisconsin Ave, in the heart of downtown Milwaukee. The Pfister is an AAA Four-Diamond Award and membership in two of our industry's leading organizations: Historic Hotels of America and Preferred Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. It opened in 1893 with extraordinary architecture and priceless Victorian art collection. Some even say that the ghost of hotel founder, Charles Pfister, has been spotted in the original hotel building. I would book the Bridal Bliss Package ($234.00 per night )
Package includes:
* Stay in a Pfister Suite
* Champagne and Truffles at Turndown
* Breakfast in Bed
* In Room Dining
I would start Friday evening with an hour-long carriage rides. Then, diner at Karl Ratzsch's Restaurant located at 320 E. Mason St. The Karl Ratzsch Reatuarant tradition first begun in 1904, it is a premiere German Restaurant. After diner it's back to relax at the Pfister with a night cap and bed
Saturday, after the leisurely breakfast in bed, I would go to the Mitchell Park Conservatory and take my time walking through all 3 of the Domes. They consist of the Arid Dome where one of the world's finest collections of cacti, succulents, shrubs and arid-land bulbs grow. The Tropical Dome, showy flowers, fruits, nuts, spices, a multitude of orchids and bromeliads and a rushing waterfall Finally the Floral Show Dome seasonal displays each year. (Age 18 & up $6.50 )
Again back to the Pfister for a Spa treatment in the WELL Spa + Janice Salon Milwaukee. I would go for the treatment called - Peace Core, this truly unique treatment begins with a layering of warm body serums followed by a dusting of seaweed powder. The powder heats and liquefies to prepare you for a relaxing infusion of our body-firming concentrate. A Hammam Shower Experience will complete this unique service. (90 minutes $200.00)
That evening we would dine at the Kil@wat located at Kilbourn and Water Streets. It has a unique atmosphere with a flexible menu allowing for traditional dining as well as tapas-style items. Then onto The Pabst Theater to watch the Milwaukee Rep's annual production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL ($35.00 - $65.00). The Pabst Theater, was built in 1895 and is known for it's opulent Baroque interior includes an Austrian crystal chandelier, a staircase crafted from white Italian Carrara marble, and a proscenium arch - highlighted in gold leaf - framing the stage. It's back to the Pfister for a night cap and bed.
Sunday after breakfast we would drive along the lake and head home refreshed and ready to take on the Holidays. |
